330 _aIn Spring 1999, the Policing and Reducing Crime Unit of the Home Office commissioned a series of reviews which were to examine what worked in tackling domestic violence. The Home Office definition of domestic violence is any violence between current or former partners in an intimate relationship, wherever and whenever it occurs. The violence may include physical, sexual, emotional, psychological or financial abuse. The reviews covered: Assessing and managing the risk of domestic violence (Sylvia Walby; Andrew Myhill); Use of the criminal law (Susan Edwards); Civil law remedies (Susan Edwars); Policing domestic violence (Jalna Hanmer); Accommodation provision (Debra Levinson; Nicola Harwin); Health services (Leslie Davidson; Valeric King; Jo Garcia; Sally Marchant); Multy-agency fora (Gill Hague); Outreach and advocacy approaches (Liz Kelly; Cathy Humphreys); Women survivors views (Andrey Mullender; Gill Hague); Meeting the needs of children (Andrey Mullender); Perpetrator programmes (Andrey Mullender; Sheila Burton); Monitoring costs and evaluating needs (Debbie Crisp; Betsy Stanko). To support the development of the Crime Reduction Programm's Violence against Women Initiatives, summary results of these reviews have been published as Briefing Notes. A set of these notes is enclosed. The full review will be published as a book in Spring 2000.
