330 _aThe purpose of this briefing is to give an overview of the life situation of children who are impacted by parental imprisonment in Europe, and the cross-sectoral holistic support required to promote positive outcomes and to safeguard their rights and meet their needs. To be effective, this support requires the hammering out of an integrative framework on European, national, local and community levels, allowing children's rights and needs to be mapped out and systems gaps identified and filled. Children's Ombudspersons can play a key role within their national context as an impetus in developing these integrative frameworks .
