Introduction and Background: Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has revolutionized crime scene investigation. Infertility literature benchmarks provide evidence that DNA exists longer in reproductive tracks than general forensic studies historically demonstrate. The result is for most rape victims, timing for evidence collection is limited jurisdictionally to three days. even though recent lirerature describes novel advancements in Y-STR analysis methods, which is now customary in many forensic laboratories. The study aims are: what is timing for DNA reccvery in proxy-couples from the vagina and cervix using Y-STR laboratory methods, and what are common physiological conditions infuencing recovery of DNA in post-coital proxy-couples? |
