The police/fire service protocol provides a mechanism through which investigators may access the personnel, skills and specialist equipment of their local fire and rescue service(s). The protocol has been approved by ACPO and the Association of Chief Fire Officers and has been posted on the ACPO intranet site. Although the protocol has been approved, many forces have yet to enter a formal agreement with their Fire and Rescue Service. Contents: introduction; search capabilities of fire and rescue services; definitions; searching for missing persons; action to be taken to secure the services of fire-fighters in support of search activities; action to be taken to secure the services of specialist fire and rescue service search teams in support of search activities; additional information; appendix A - details of specialist fire and rescue service search teams. |
